Why is Papua New Guinea important to living-pterosaur research?
The independent nation of Papua New Guinea (called by the people "Piugini") is north of Australia and includes the eastern side of
one of the largest islands in the world: the island of New Guinea. How does this relate to live pterodactyls? These islands seem to
have more reports of apparent living pterosaurs than any other area of the world. On Umboi Island, the ropen has been seen by hundreds
of natives and a number of Western visitors, including an Australian who once worked as a government official on Umboi.
